The flowery fragrant smell came from somewhere but only only at night….where??? It took me some time till I really found out what it was and its name. Thank you Pro. Maketab for giving me an answer! ???? Its yellowish flowers have a distinct fragrance and the fruits of the tree are bitter tasting red berries, which are eaten by birds and fruit bats.It has a unique appearance, having a loose branch hanging from its bark. I also got to know that there is an over 150 years old Tembusu tree exists in Singapore botanic garden and it is featured on the back of S$5 dollar note! The tembusu tree blooms twice a year during May and October. It means I still got one more chance to enjoy night walking in my neighbourhood.

昼間はなんの匂いもしないのに、暗くなるとほのか〜にフレグラントな香りが漂って、それは辺り一体とてもとてもいい匂い。ずっーーーと名前を知りたいと願っていたところ以前にもお世話になったマクタブ教授からスンナリと教えていただきました。　テンブスの花は日没を待って開花、それが夜中近くなるともう無視できないくらい辺りは花の香りでいっぱい。この花は夜の到来を誰のために待っているの？と思わせる少々魅惑的なテンブスの木です。シンガポールボタニックガーデンにも樹齢150年を超えるテンブスの木が現存していて、シンガポールの＄５札の後ろのモチーフにもなっています。
