【Kapmpong Parit Tengah-Homestay—カンポンホームステイ】

“Kampong Homestay program” is designed for tourists to experience the way of rural life. I recently had an opportunity to visit Kampong Parit Tengah in Batu Pahat, Johor. It is located up North, about 90km from Johor bahru. Kg Parit Tengah is taking part in the homestay program which are carefully selected and comply with strike guidelines from the Ministry of Tourism M’sia. The unique part of this kampong is not only oil palm and rubber plantation but also they got a HUGE pineapple plantation nearby. I was lucky enough to witness the harvesting of the pineapples there, and to bring back some as well.

マレーシアの田舎を体験出来る”カンポンホームステイ”があります。今回知人の紹介でBatu PahatにあるKampong Pari Tengahにお邪魔しました。この村は詳細なプログラムから衛生面までマレーシア観光局からの指導を受け正式に認められたホームステイ村として登録されています。このカンポンの一押しはジョホール最大を誇るパイナップル畑でしょう。360°見渡す限りーーーどこが端なのか、そしてどこまで続いてるのか。。これだけの広さを管理するに一体どれくらいの労働者が必要なのか、でも不思議と人影は少なくトラック一台と出くわすのみでした。収穫時に訪れた私はラッキーにも、お持ち帰り????を頂きました。今回お世話になったホームステイ先のSukuran ご夫婦。何しろ出てくる料理は全て近くで採れた野菜やフルーツばかり。エコで体に優しい食べ物はシンプルですがカンポンライフこそ長寿の秘訣では。。と感じました。初体験のフルーツ、プラサン(Pulasan)は見た目は悪いものの味はランブータンそっくりで甘くて美味しかったです。庭に成ってるプラサンをまたまた袋いっぱい、お土産にいただきました〜。こんな感じで現地の人々との交流を存分に楽しめるのが”カンポンステイ”の魅力です。
