【Tekka(竹脚)-Durianーーテッカドリアン】

It is almost Durian season coming to an end here. As a beginner of Durian lover and its learner myself, I got to taste something new one last time!
The chance came to me while I was driving to Simpang Renggam, town of pineapple plantation, north east of Johor Bahru. The Tekka refers to a Bamboo Shoot because of its shape, giving it a curved, crescent shape similar to a bamboo shoot. It was purchased for RM10/kg and the fruits was quite sweet and creamy. The seller said that it was not very popular among young people but for older generation who are looking for more bitter taste.
Believe it or not, The Tekka will come back in December again so I got a reason to go back there again.

道路沿いの簡易ドリアン売り場には以前のような賑わいもなく、ドリアンの季節が終わりを迎えているようす。ドリアン愛好家初心者としては最後にまだ食してない種類を。。。願っていたところ先日そのチャンスが巡って来ました。ジョホールの街から高速で一時間弱、Simpang Renggamは、大規模なパイナッブル農園やゴム・ヤシ等の栽培が盛んに行われてる小さな町です。たまたま寄った道路沿いのお店でTekkaと初の対面。なんでもタイ原産のドリアンとのハイブリッドであるとの話。RM10/kgとは季節終わりの破格値段で、文句ナシ‼︎　気になるお味は、、、ビターな味を好む人々に人気があるらしいですが、今回は甘みが強くそしてクリーミーでした。驚くことにこのTekka、１２月にまた出回るとのことなのでまた現地へレポート致します。
