【パイナップルファーム見学・体験?Pineapple farm visit】

There is nothing better than biting into a freshly harvested juicy fruits in a farm! This is a trip to introduce the richness of agriculture in Johor. Located in the historic plantation town of Pontian, We have learnt about sustainable faming practices and how it benefits the environment. The 2nd part, we headed to Kukup fishing village for seafood lunch and followed by a short boat ride to visit Kelong fish farm where we found a giant tri-spine horseshoe crab and bloated fish. On our way back to Jb, we drop by one of the most traditional Chinese bakery shop in Pontian, called Chai Huat Heng Bakery. It has been around nearly 100 years!! A family owned business is very much keeping their tradition, kneading or working the dough by hand. Hard work is the key to success!!

ジョホールのPontian地区はPeat soil(泥炭）というパイナップル栽培に適した土地だそうです。マレーシアでも特にジョホールはパイナップル栽培が盛んで、Pekan Nanas(パイナップルの町-マレー語）という地名まであって、その栽培の歴史を物語っています。ククップの漁村で名物シーフードを食べた後は、船に乗って海上養殖場を見学。あの生きた化石と言われているカブトガニや小型のフグを見つけました。そして最後は100年近く続いている老舗の潮州菓子を製造販売している菓子屋さん。未だに製造工程は殆ど人による手作業だとか。当日は日曜だったので、職人さんたちの作業風景は見られませんでしたが、店員さん達のホスピタリティーに感謝。
