【Glass Hindu Temple- ヒンドゥー寺院（ガラスの寺）】

The Hindu temple, one of the oldest in town, is embellished with 300,000 pieces of glasses including its floors, pillars, walls and all over! The temple chairman and chief priest who is the key person behind the temple, was inspired from a temple in Bangkok with its glass artwork. The transformation of the temple was reopened in 2009 and since then, it has become one of the most popular tourist attractions. The unique feather of glass temple is that there are the statues of Jesus Christ, Buddha, Mother Theresa and many others who influenced other Hindus. It aim to express the values of peace and tolerance for other religions. It’s worth visiting the temple for its art work as well as for its atmosphere.

ローカルの知り合い数人から『一度は行って見ておきなさい〜』とオススメされていた通称ガラステンプル。今回お友達のお誘いがかかってとうとう実現に至った。バンコクにあるお寺の門がガラス張りであったのを偶然見つけたお寺の関係者が思い立ったらしい。お寺の殆どが６色のガラスモザイクで埋め尽くされたガラステンプルが２００９年に完成、以来その噂を聞きつけた国内外の観光客数が年々増え続けているらしい。またもう一つの特徴として、ヒンズー教のお寺ではあるもののブッダ、イエスキリスト、マザーテレサたちの大理石像を見る事が出来ます。他宗教を敬い、それぞれの多様性を受け入れるという、ガラステンプルからのメッセージだそうで、訪れた人々からも支持を得ているとか。２１世紀のグローバル社会になくてはならない要素でもありますね。
